The 2020 River City Golf Association (RCGA) Cup Champion is; Greg Hopkins. The RCGA Cup was established five years ago and is affectionately known as “Hopkins’ baby” because it was his initiative to establish the RCGA Cup Championship. This was one of the most competitive; if not the most competitive Cup Championships to date. There were 117 golfers charting points this year. Of the 117 golfers; Greg Hopkins performed and participated better than the other members. COVID-19 robbed us of several regular season tournament events. The 2020 Cup consisted of 25 rounds. Ending with the final round at Cedar Creek. It is with great pleasure to laud “…And the new Cup champion is Greg Hopkins!” Congratulations and thank you to everyone that participated!

The 2020 RCGA Cup championship started with the 1^st round played in January. With the New Year, also comes changes. One such change is the Cup point system. Our point system has reflected some of the same trials as the PGA’s point system. We have recognized that impactful modifications may lead to different outcomes based on the same aspects originally scoped. They are participation and performance. To hold the Cup title; a golfer will have to do both. This latest modification places more gravity on top finishes and eliminates participation points. It also entirely updates the major point system. This year, no cup points shall be awarded during a combined event. Golfers with an established RCGA handicap shall receive points during each Cup participated event. See the new point system to the right.
