This is our bi-annual tournament with the Brother’s of Houston (BOH). This tournament’s trophy was renamed in honor of Mr. Ray Williams in 2020. The event in the spring is hosted by the BOH; and we host the event in the fall each year.   This is a two-day event.  Our fall 2022 tournament was played on October 5^th and 6^th in San Antonio. The Quarry Golf Club shall be played on 5 Oct. And the recently renovated Olmos Basin Golf Course shall be the site on 6 Oct. Enroll to help us defend The Ray Williams Texas Interclub Cup.

Please expect pace of play to be longer than our regular weekly tournaments.  All golfers will compete in a match and skins.  The visiting club covers the blind draw for the four-ball match that is short one golfer.  All male golfers age 64 and younger will tee one in from the tips. And male golfers age 65 and older tee two in from the tips. Formats/payouts: four-ball, singles match play, all skins are paid. 1^st place low net and low gross are won as a skin for each flight (a, b, & c).  Fourball & singles are combined to determine which club wins the tournament; we win or lose as a team. * * New; closest to pin bonus contest added for the Quarry Golf Club. Please bring your measuring tapes to annotate your distance on the scorecard. * *

     Golfers shall check-in and the entry fee should be paid in advance. Send your Cash App entry fee to $Shutout190 (190 are numerical digits) prior to 1 p.m., Wednesday, 28 Sep 2022. The entire two-day interclub fee: $40 (covers match & skins for both days).  Golfers playing only one day; the fee is $20 (match & skins for that day).  The entry fee is mandatory. The green fee is individual pay; please pay your green fee at the Pro Shop each day.

     Day 1; is the fourball match…and day 2; will be the singles match play.  To keep it simple…you just play stroke play each day and shoot a lower score on more holes than your opponent.  Maximum strokes per hole is triple bogey.  That means if you are laying double; pickup and annotate a triple on the hole played.  All matches will be assessed from hole #1; regardless of your actual starting location.  Each golfer plays off their handicap during the fourball matches; yes, each golfer will get their strokes on the 1^st day.  During the singles match play; the lower handicapped golfer does not receive any strokes…while the higher handicapped golfer will play with the difference between the lower handicapped opponent.  I.E. Rick’s hcp is 7, while Chris’s hcp is 12…Chris would get one stroke on the 5 hardest hcp holes.

Two days of competition yielded a tournament victory for River City Golf Association (RCGA). After our play at The Quarry, we were held in suspense wondering what the match tally would be. Elijah worked to well into the morning to get the scoring program to score the matches. He delivered the news we were up 7 to 2. We were off to a very good start. The turn around time was quick for the second day at Olmos Basin. There were a total of 27 points up for grabs. We needed 7 points on the second day to shutout The Brothers of Houston. We did that plus some. RCGA successfully defended the Ray Williams Texas Interclub Cup. We are back-to-back-to-back champions! Thank you for participating.
