We were finally able to resume our biannual interclub play; Houston in the spring and San Antonio in the fall. COVID-19 caused us to responsibly put both of our 2020 calendar year competitions on ice. Through God’s grace delivering us to a far better COVID climate, the Brothers of Houston (BOH) hosted us in 2021 at Quail Valley’s El Dorado Course on Wednesday. Then we tee’d it up at the Pearland Golf Club for the final round on Thursday. Despite the rainy weather forecasts; we had and played in excellent weather conditions. Folks, it did not rain on us either day! However, the second round was played as “cart path only” at Pearland.

Now to the match; long story short… the BOH won the Texas Interclub Trophy 28 ½ to 8 ½ matches overall. Day 1, we were fairly competitive with the BOH leading 7 ½ to 5 ½ in the four-ball matches. The BOH dominated day 2 in the singles matches; the BOH cleaned-up by winning 21 of the 24 points available for this format. See the individual match results posted below on the tee sheet.

· Day 2; $10 per skin and $21 for two skins

Please expect pace of play to be longer than our regular weekly tournaments.  All golfers will compete in a match.   Formats/payouts: four-ball, singles match play, all skins are paid. 1^st place low net and low gross are won as a skin for each flight (a, b, & c).  Fourball & singles are combined; we win or lose as a team.

     Day 1; is the fourball match…and day 2; will be the singles match play.  To keep it simple…you play your golf ball each day and shoot a lower score on more holes than your opponent.  Maximum strokes per hole is triple bogey.  That means if you are laying double; pickup and annotate a triple on the hole played.  All matches will be assessed from hole #1; regardless of your actual starting location.  Each golfer plays off their handicap during the fourball matches; yes, each golfer will get their strokes on the 1^st day.  During the singles match play; the lower handicapped golfer does not receive any strokes…while the higher handicapped golfer will play with the difference between the lower handicapped opponent.  I.E. Rick’s hcp is 7, while Chris’s hcp is 12…Chris would get one stroke on the 5 hardest hcp holes.

The green fee is individual pay; please pay your green fee at the Pro Shop each day.
